Fragrance Hunter

Partner brief

The guide that puts the original first. Always.

Fragrance Hunter is an independent, cited guide to designer fragrance and the accessible fragrances it inspired. Most of this category runs on screenshots and invented note lists. We publish nothing we cannot trace to a source. Every claim on this page can be checked on the live site and in the iOS app today.

Original first

Original first, always.

Every page opens with the genuine article: its photo, its price, and a direct link to buy it at retail. The original leads every page we publish. Where we carry a genuine 5 ml sample, we offer it as a way to try the original before committing to a full bottle.

Cited notes

Cited notes only.

Every accord and note we publish is taken from a brand-official page or an authorized retailer such as Nordstrom, Selfridges, Sephora, or Bloomingdale’s, then mapped into our controlled vocabulary so the same material reads consistently across houses. The source is named and linked on the page. We do not use crowd-sourced databases. If a house publishes no notes, our page shows none.

Brand names

The brand’s name belongs to the brand.

Alternatives never carry an original’s name or house mark. The rule is enforced in the product code itself. Inspired products display their own identity and format, such as “Extrait de Parfum” or “Perfume Oil”, and when feed data attributes a designer’s brand to a reproduction we correct the record.

Openly inspired

“Openly inspired,” never “the same.”

We describe alternatives as interpretations, openly inspired by the original, with their own compositions. The words “identical” and “the same formula” do not appear on our pages. Each match shows its shared, cited accords and carries a plain caveat: retailer-asserted, not independently verified.

"We want to honor the originals. They are part of our catalogue too, and they are the ones that everyone knows."

That principle shapes the product. The original carries the demand and the story, so our pages present the house's work as the reference point.
